The Definition

The Liquid Crystal

Fascia is one continuous organ that flows between every cell. It wraps around every muscle, continues into tendons and ligaments, and integrates the organs with the rest of the body. In this way, fascia functions like the rings of a tree, arranged in layers around a visceral core to provide structure, flexibility, and neural communication.

On a technical level, fascia is a matrix of collagen and elastin fibres which create channels for water to flow through the body. These fibres are laid down by fibroblasts — cells with the specific function of maintaining the fascial system, its structure, and efficiency. Through bound water and ionic flow, this continuous matrix operates as a liquid crystal: malleable, conductive, and deeply innervated.

As this liquid-crystal matrix maintains the flow of bio-electric charge, fascia serves as the physical dimension of consciousness—the exact interface where metaphysical current is expressed in mechanical reality.

The Function

Bioelectrodynamics

The entire body is bioelectrodynamic, with fascia as the conductive medium for its Essential transference. Current flows through fascia via an electronegative difference incurred by the hydration of fascial tissues: as water flows through fascia, it creates a current from the flow of charged ions. This current flows through and along the body’s fascial tensegrity matrix in patterns of greatest efficiency. Concurrently, neurons are re-integrated into the fascial matrix as the tissues they are embedded in are re-hydrated.

Example: The Deep Front Line

The Deep Front Line forms the visceral core of the body, creating a continuous fascial plane from the pelvis to the skull—from the pelvic floor to the roof of the mouth. This axis functions like an electric dipole, conducting literal current through the body’s primary vertical column. Structural resistance crumples this axis by order of efficiency.

In order for Essence to be more fully expressed, and for current to flow smoothly, the structure of the body must be open and aligned. Because the Deep Front Line is one continuous tissue structure, its innervation aids in the integrity and tensegrity of the body as a whole. Innervation of the Deep Front Line is therefore one of the most efficient ways of decreasing resistance in the entire fascial system.

The Placement

A Malleable Psycho-Conductor

Because fascia is deeply innervated, fascial bodywork has a profound psychological effect — in innervating the fascia to create coherence in the body, the Self becomes coherent, too. In this way, fascial bodywork increases the efficiency of the body’s Essential transmission by decreasing the resistance for an individual’s Essence to be expressed.

Because fascia is where resistance against individual expression first crystallises physically, it is naturally the primary site where resistance is addressed. Therefore, fascia is the first place where wellness can be reliably practiced as an application of metaphysics.
